Is removing PDF links free, and do I need an account?+
Yes, it is free. Removing link annotations is a core browser tool that does not require an account, sign-in, or credit card. Inspection, removal, and verification all happen locally in your browser.
Will visible URLs disappear from the page?+
No. The tool removes invisible clickable annotation rectangles and their actions. Printed URL text, link-colored text, underlines, QR codes, and page artwork remain visible.
Which clickable links are removed?+
By default all page Link annotations are removed, including web, email, phone, internal-page, remote-PDF, file-launch, form-submission, named, JavaScript, and unrecognized link actions. When a PDF has both internal and external links you can instead keep same-document page jumps and remove only the links that reach outside the page.
Can I keep the table of contents and internal cross-reference links?+
Yes. Choose "Keep internal navigation" and only links that jump within the same document (a /Dest or a GoTo action) are retained; every web, email, phone, remote-PDF, file-launch, form-submission, named, and JavaScript link is removed. The output is re-scanned to confirm no outward-reaching link survived.
Do the removed URLs and scripts still sit hidden inside the PDF file?+
No. When a removed link’s action or appearance is stored as a separate object, that object is purged during removal if nothing else references it, so the removed URL and JavaScript text is not left recoverable in the downloaded bytes. Shared objects that other content still uses are left intact.
Can I remove only some of the links?+
Yes. Choose "Choose specific links" and select an exact set: tick individual links in the list, toggle whole types (all web links, all form submissions, and so on), enter a page range such as 1-3, 7, 12, or paste a list of domains and keywords. The selection count and preview update as you go.
