Convert PDF tools
Transform PDFs to and from documents, spreadsheets, presentations, images, and text formats.
Converting a PDF usually means one of two things: turning a PDF into an editable format like Word or Excel so you can revise its content, or turning another file type into a PDF so it opens correctly and stays fixed on any device. Most of these run locally in your browser; a few — like PDF to Word and PDF to Excel — use AI to rebuild the document's structure from extracted text, which is worth reviewing before you rely on the exact formatting.

Convert PDF tools — questions
Will a PDF keep its formatting when converted to Word?
Simple, single-column layouts convert reliably. Multi-column pages, tables with merged cells, and custom fonts often need cleanup afterward, because PDF to Word rebuilds the document structure from extracted text rather than copying a Word file. Review the result before you rely on the exact layout.
Can you convert a scanned PDF to an editable document?
Only if it has a real text layer. A scan is just page images until it has been through OCR. Run the scanned PDF through OCR first to add searchable text, then convert it to Word, Excel, or another editable format.
Are the conversion tools free and private?
Most conversions — images to PDF, Word/Excel/PowerPoint to PDF, and similar — run entirely in your browser at no cost and with no account. A few that rebuild document structure, such as PDF to Word and PDF to Excel, send the extracted text through an AI route and need a free account.
