Why Do PDF Links Stop Working After Editing?

Links are anchored to a specific area of a specific page — certain edits can shift that anchor without you noticing, leaving the visible text in place but the click going nowhere or to the wrong spot.
Common causes
- ·Merging PDFs — an internal link pointing to "page 5" of the original file may now point to the wrong page in the combined document
- ·Deleting or reordering pages — the same issue: an internal jump-to-page link does not automatically follow the content it was originally near
